Objectives |
1. Continue research of implicitly-defined growth and yield models (relevant to my Fiber Supply Assessment bibliography) for use on forested lands in the Southeast United States, and evaluate methods in which they are developed and applied. |
11. Investigate propagation of different distributions of inventory errors in inventory projections using non-linear implicitly-defined models. |
10. Examine opportunities for improving inventory update procedures using proper developments of well-behaved, biologically based implicitly-defined models through increasing knowledge about methods and procedures used in data analysis. |
12. Continue to publish examples of improved developments for implicitly-defined models that exist in the literature. |
13. Contribute to professional and public education in all areas of understanding of the implicitly defined models and their uses through public speaking and technology transfer and research publications. |
14. Acquire or collect data necessary for above outlined points: 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13. |
15. Establish Internet-based information processing center for the annual inventory updates. |
16. Establish and implement tech-transfer and communication means for the developed new technologies. |
2. Continue evaluating the prediction, management values, and costs of the above classes of these models with individual model examples using existing or collected data. |
3. Continue analyzing sources and types of errors associated with different types of implicitly-defined models in inventory updates and identify all relevant literature that can contribute to the definition and treatment of these errors. |
4. Continue developing standard procedures that can be used for estimation of these errors and their distributions in applications related to inventory projections. |
5. Continue developing and publishing methodologies for derivation of the well-behaved inventory projection models. |
6. Develop and publish generic, theoretical implicitly-defined models for different applications relating to inventory projections. |
7. Develop and publish empirical implicitly-defined models to meet current demands and needs relating to inventory updating and forecasting in the region and elsewhere using existing or collected data. |
8. Research and analyze commonalities and merits between the nonlinear mixed effects models and the implicitly-defined models. |
9. Identify potentially dangerous or costly misconceptions or malpractice in the field of implicitly-defined modeling and research the sources of problems and suggest solutions. |
57.
